The Network (multi-user) version of Master Planner 4 may be installed in several possible ways:
- Option 1: the program is installed onto the server and each user runs as a client machine.
This method is easier for network administration and upgrading, but users cannot run the program away from the network.
- Option 2: the program is installed on each user's machine independently.
This method allows users to use Master Planner 4 when away from the network, but makes network
administration and upgrading more complicated.
- Option 3: a mixture of installations, with some users accessing the program on the server and others
running it on their own machine.
Whichever option is selected, planner data files held on the server may be shared by all users.
Download the setup program and run it, selecting 'Stand-alone installation' or 'Network options', as required. For Network installation, you can then choose whether to install the program to the server, or run a client installation, or both. You will need to run either a stand-alone installation or a client installation for each user machine (this process can be automated). If you have a registration key, enter it when prompted; you can also enter the key later, when the program is running. Without a registration key, the program runs as a demo version, with some limitations. You can also download the Network Administrator's Guide, which has detailed information about network installation and maintenance, and the 14-page User Guide to Master Planner, a short booklet for users. Ensure that users with accessing shared files know that they must click the red traffic light button to open a planner for editing and should release it when finished by clicking the traffic light button again.
