Upgrading from version 3 to version 4

We hope you will enjoy a smooth transition from Version 3 to Version 4, but to minimise any problems, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Take secure backups of all your Master Planner files, which may include planner data files (.mpf), saved toolbar files (.tlb) and your personal settings (mastplan.ini in your Windows system directory).
  2. Download and install Master Planner 4. By default, this will create a new directory, leaving your existing installation intact - it is recommended that you accept the default, which will allow you to revert to the earlier version if you wish.
  3. If you have a registration key, you can enter it during installation (but note that Version 3 keys will not work - email us to request a new key). This will unlock all the features of Master Planner 4.
  4. IMPORTANT! You can read all your existing planner files in Version 4, but when you save them they will no longer be readable in Version 3. Be sure to keep Version 3 and Version 4 files separate. Version 4 has an option to export in Version 3 format, but this should be used with caution.
  5. Version 4 will continue to use your personal preferences, such as colours and default settings, but they will now be saved to the registry, so any changes you make will affect only Version 4.

Upgrading from version 2 to version 4

You can easily upgrade straight from version 2 to version 4. Just follow the steps listed above, but note that version 2 does not have any toolbar files or a registration key.
