Master Planner 4 new features

Version 4 of the program includes a number of improvements, many suggested by our users:

  • Icon tracking - full control of holiday leave, training or project planning. Specify exactly how many times a symbol may be used and by which resources, with date limits. Master Planner can warn or refuse if the limits will be breached.
  • Categories - add any type of category to your planner, such as age, experience and gender for employees, or make, model and service date for cars.
  • More columns - show categories or basic resource data, such as email address, as columns on the planner, which can be resized as required.
  • Search function - select all male employees with more than 20 years experience, or all cars with service due in August, and see the results instantly on the planner.
  • Zoom in or out - increase the size of planner cells for more detailed viewing, or decrease to see more data at once.
  • From 1 to 12 daily time periods - now you can have just one daily time period, if your scheduling applies only to complete days, or as many as 12, allowing fine detail.
  • Assign an icon to a resource - for planners with a mixture of human and non-human resources, it can be useful to assign a specific icon to an employee for easy cross-reference.
  • Full editing in a view - now you can make any editing changes while viewing only part of the planner.
  • Undo any planner change - the Undo feature is now even more useful, and you can roll back any planner changes to the last save point. Changes to your personal settings cannot be undone, however.
  • New right-click menus - right-click on the resource list or the planner itself , and a popup menu shows range of appropriate actions. This is particularly useful for creating statistics reports on the fly - select an icon, a date range or a resource, and view statistics instantly.
  • Improved statistics - now statistics are available for resources and dates, as well as icons. This means you can see all icon usage for a resource, or for a date range. And you can produce statistics for more than one icon at a time.
  • Improved report creation and printing - a new print wizard makes it easy to create a basic report, by setting many options to default settings. Of course, you still have full control of all options in the report editing screen. All reports have been revised to give a more consistent appearance.
  • Add reminders to be shown at startup - in addition to start, finish and birthdates, you can now add general reminders to be shown to all users when they open a planner on a particular day - for instance, to remind staff about important events. And you can also save personal reminders, shown only to you.
  • Send email from within Master Planner 4 - if your planner includes human resources, and you have stored their email addresses, you can open your email client from within Master Planner to send mail to a single individual or a group.
  • (Network version only) Extra help for network administrators - the new Network Administrator's Utility Program allows easier management of multiple installations, including automatic upgrades, easy setting of automatic client installation options, and live information on Master Planner users.
